I think with the declaration of war. She is just trying to judge if mc is even powerful to hide her and keep her safe. Maybe she is trying to check that whom she is trying to make an alliance with is actually worth it.

On one hand that’s good she’s coming to you which means she won’t have to fight your brother and his army. On the other hand you made your self independent from the rest of the kingdom and land that good enough to defend against monsters and if that lands fails then it will be the kingdom problem which would be even better for her and her people
