i mean even tho lily’s parents died like that idk if its justified to hate on their whole race from that… especially because elves went through worse things.
imagine some elves betrayed your family and now u hate their whole race so much u cant even fight with them anymore, versus having your whole race being forced to live as slaves and have children forced to be in “missions” just to be disposed of later on and yet those elves are still willing to fight with humans..
if u think about it, its not really fair that lily gets to hate them, while elves are forced to forgive humans. I feel like mc needs to teach her a lesson and he needs to be harsh, should tell her to leave the battlefront immediately if she continues thinking like this.
I like the portrayal of racial animosity here. It feels more grounded than most. A lot of times it’s just basic for a plot point but this felt like a thought-out decision by the author. It’s not a throw away element. It’s a real part of the story rather than just a way to boost the morality of the protagonist. I don’t think anyone can get slavery dynamics right, not even people who experience discrimination, but imo this is the best utilization I’ve seen in my manga/manhwa experience.

Say what ypu want, but in most fantasy literature, the racial differences and content (to put ot nicely) is rarely well portrayed, is usually overlook or shown as something so simple as calling names and looking down on each other, and when slavery is involved is usually gritty or dumb, but rarely well designed.
so I like that tis was not you generic “muh slave ulf” trope, and istead has a background of conflict and a government systematic segregation as a plot device rather than something poorly excecuted for either personal bias or poor skill.
And just because you lke how this is portrayed doesn’t makes you a bad person or a racist bro, people gotta acept and understand reality and separate it from fiction unless is a clear subtle attack/commentary of modern belief, which is rarely the case, and the latest is usually done poorly as well in most cases.
