The pieces on the chessboard in the demon king’s room are the same as those in Aider’s room. The only difference is that the black bishop has taken the white rook. I already felt something was wrong with Aider when a large number of monsters went to Evangeline during stage 3, but this pretty much confirms it. Maybe this is also foreshadowing a bad occurrence?

Aider the Director character is the Demon Lord. Calling it now. The unusual game knowledge and the chess board both keep with them are huge hints.
