I always find it annoying when the protagonist of a group only saves the one who will become important in the future and lets the rest of the (equally) capable people die (he himself says that they are all stronger than him).
There are plenty of examples where the MC saves an unknown person who later becomes powerful, such as Yoo Sangha from ORV.
