I get you dont pay much attention to detail but it quite literally said that an issue happened and that the restriction was lifted, the 2nd one is true, he shouldnt know his name but keep in mind that he is under hypnosis, and 3rd in case it wasnt common sense, holy arrow and mana shield are basic skills that can be learned, the blank card is used to copy unique skills that cant be learned, he just used one to learn lightning chain because if he didnt he would die, hope that answers your questions.
Dude… I don’t know how you read it. He can use chain because restriction was temporarily lifted (we see message about it). Card allows him to instantly coppy ANY magical skill. It doesn’t mean he can’t learn spells like other mages, he can and this is how he obtained barrier or arrow. But cards allow him for eg. to learn skills like sacrifice that are unique and have no formula you can learn. About the name, he could recognize him in a corridor or somewhere before the test. And all students had a name tag.
