Also, MCs father. He never hated MC. It’s so obvious that he is doing what he’s doing to save his son.
For example, if you’re a really influential powerful royal family etc, sometimes it’s better feign disgust/hate of your kin to keep them safe. Showing affection to them would only attract attention and danger since they’re literally the said powerful persons “weak point”.
So imho, MCs dad probably has his own master plan. But he’s since been twisted by Odin. And he is cruel, for sure. But saying, “I’ll only chop your limbs off” could be his way of trying to stop his son from attracting anymore of Odin’s attention as the “divine enemy” or whatever.
