How I hate this trope of ”Demons are not evil just different”. It’s so unoriginal at this point and it’s never done right.
I loved how Frieren at the Funeral played with how bad this trope is.
Spoiler of that Manga
There the demons started convincing humans that they weren’t that different, but it was a trick, Frieren explains why, and the reason is not that demons are evil, but rather alien, not humans, even if they can talk or communicate they are still animals bound by their desires and primal instincts, demons evolved from creatures that mimicked the voice of their preys to lure them and eat them, they do the same with humans, talking them down and instilling trust in them, to kill and eat them.
