In many forms of fantasy literature having a creature’s true name aids in summoning that creature. He may have unintentionally just agreed to be summoned again in the future. Instead of a generic “Powerful Beastman” they will now summon him specifically. “If this continues we are doomed! Gather the priests! I don’t think the dragon is dead, just out cold with the stuffing knocked out of it. It’s likely it will go back to its lair and have nightmares for the next long while
