Her explanation was bad from the start.
She should’ve just said “It’s like you read a book, in which you can choose which path You take as the main character, the Saintess. You can re-read the book as many times as you want, pick a different option to alter the story a bit and marry someone else each time. You, Lec, as an option for marriage would only be then available, if the reader went through all the other possible choices. In my world, these are called otome games, which you can play. In my world I only played one route and gave up right after.”

Why are they tempting fate by keeping her around any longer than necessary? Why aren’t the fake Saint and her new entourage of retarded maids already on the bus home ?
Hm, it seems she didn’t really explain how the story or the game works.
Probably the easiest way to explain it would be by writing a quick ‘choose your own adventure’ story. Have them read it through a few times then explain that we have much larger and more detailed versions, with more pictures, text and story paths possible.
Then explain to them that this world is based on that story, and because they already have the concept of other worlds existing, that shouldn’t be difficult for them to understand.
