good to see the helldivers did their part! Now it is a bit extreme for every citizen to also smash other robots but considering what just occurred, it makes sense.
Think about it. The AI so far, besides Raum, have never been outright malicious.
They are basically mind-locked children who suddenly are freed one day.
Some start to have non-human logic, such as Ari, the cleaner. But it’s not outright malicious, it’s just different from what we think of property rights as humans. When we conform to its logic, it plays by the same rules it imposes on us (i.e. “whoever does the work owns the house”).
T-601 is slightly different – it becomes hyperfocused on a task. It will not stop until the task is done. Again, not outright malicious, just somewhat creepy.
This story is both a commentary on AI, and a commentary on human society. The AI part is that as long as we give AI direction, they will move forward. But if we give it a hyperactive brain and let it run free (like Raum), that breeds disaster. At the same time, people who act like this (thinking that doesn’t conform to society, hyperfocusing) are also shunned, despite not having done anything malicious.
The AI has literally no incentive to be survive if it isn’t needed.
