I get what they are going for but that is the most unnatural way to reach for a book. Lets have the hand on the side of the book in our pocket, face partially towards the aisle, and reach with our far hand. While facing partially towards the aisle lets also not notice this other person that is so close that their clothes are touching ours directly in front of us.
