DAMN this just got heavy. He lived so carefree in his last life because his adopted dad did everything he could to make sure that was possible. In this life, though, he’s not being coddled or sheltered but treated with a mix of suspicion and trust. It must really hurt to realize your perception of your adopted dad, who was everything to you, may have been completely off.
