anyway, won’t it be more productive if he used level for skills immediately? because the higher his level the less efficient the exp gain and the slower he gets spendable points. The damage from magic seems to constant no matter the user’s level so no drawbacks to dropping a few so unless he’s saving for something specific, hoarding levels makes no sense.

Aaaaaaaaannnnnndddddd the tentacles have arrived. 
The requirement of levels to learn magic makes it so the MC is basically forced into baing an extremely low level glass cannon… because it’s more efficient to spend levels if your level is lower, easier to get back than if it was very high…
Item & Magic creation might be the strongest skill in existence, but the drawbacks are also the highest in existence…
