Whilst I truly am enjoying this story all of this lack of telling Deon anything is the cause of it all and no one other than the King and his brother seem to be taking responsibility for this

Why didn’t he finish the job? Unexpected help even arrived right near the end. I don’t understand why he gave up when he had his enemy right in his clutches.
