i am confused to this backstory. i thought MC is kin or brother to the Emperor. then now it says he was a former hero and became a hero comrade.well, both might be true but i i need more details

Wait, since his “other self” said to the intruder, that the emperor knows everything about his reason being there and his “objective”, and now we learn that he’s actually been a war hero, but accompanied that hero as just a comrade, to get his “wish”… Could it be, that the emperor kinda brainwashed/hypnotized him, to build a 2nd personality, so he could infiltrate the demon castle for a certain quest? (kinda like in “Total Recall”)
