Traveler ain’t thinking big enough. When someone keeps overcoming your obstacles through sheer luck and absurdity, you need to initially ignore the people in front of your enemy. Let them fight or back away on their own. Start putting down pawns all around the game board, far FAR away from your opponent. Then, build a net up to their formation. Finally, when they bite the bait, make all your pieces flow inward and crush them in a single massive blow.
WHEN that fails (because it probably will), then, that’s when your last pawn- the one close to them you set up during the mass siege while they were distracted- that’s when your final piece stabs them in the back for the coup de grace. Bonus points if it’s a family member or loved one.
Proper villains don’t strike at the heart. They bleed you dry, then smack you with a towel-covered sucker punch to the gut… Oh, and a knife’s in that towel.
At least the Traveler is being smarter with his choices now and planting seeds for success down the line. However at least 2 of the seeds will backfire for sure, since I read a bit of the LN

Mm, guide actually did a smart thing and let the bad guy lose insignificant battle to make him more motivated to do bigger evil deeds.
