A pillar that upholds society? No, obviously he was indeed a pillar, but all he upheld was an inhumane and corrupt system of degenerate and cruel tyranny.
“Society” is nothing but a convenient illusion if there is no way for people of every social “Strata” to live. The fact that people are starving on the streets and joining the army (with less than a one in a hundred percent chance to survive their first battle) because that’s somehow their best option, is proof that there’s no true society here; just a thin crust at the top, pretending to be civilized when they might as well be savages bashing children and the elderly with their warclubs to secure for themselves the best sleeping spot by the fire at night, or the biggest haunch of meat at every meal.
