I think his other skills only activate and show when hes in combat, like a passive skill

So in chapter 2 the king himself mentioned that the hero summoning always summons an OP person, yet they chose to sideline MC for only having protection and appraisal.
They didn’t think to investigate the range of his powers, and probably don’t know that Protection has many subskills under it, and it seems Appraisal has at least a detection skill under it, since he keeps feeling that he is being watched, but since no one bothered to train him on his “lame” skills, he doesn’t know how to activate his skills at will.
