I’m sure they end up banning offensive magic here too. We just need a little more evolution in civilization

So the MC went from a world where magic was forcefully underdeveloped (because offensive magic was banned) to one where magic is in an even worse state, probably because humanity messed up everything again (if this wasn’t the future how do you explain that lost technology from chapter 1?)

Im pretty happy this story actually shows how much magic has developed over those 600(?) years and doesn’t pull out “I can’t believe magic had devolved so much” although it is different plot and genre(in the time travel part of going to past or future)
