The reason the mother didn’t run away is that the author wanted to show her as an absolute good. It is to contrast a mother who is willing to die for her children as OPPOSED to a mother who will sacrifice her children for herself (ie the Queen).
The mother is really stupid. You’ve just been guided into a cave, a safe hiding spot. What the fuck are you doing, running straight out into the open again?

if she was gonna sacrifice herself she shouldve ran away here instead of killing herself. Atleast she wouldve guided the bad guys elsewhere
