That’s not how it works, that’s not how any of it works.
Ok, normal pollution also is a thing that prevents you from seeing the stars, but that was only true, for first world countries, up to the mid 80s. At most. But light pollution then became even more of a thing since then, preventing you from seeing the stars because they have been drowned out by stronger lights.
Aside that stars are not dead people. That smog actually kills people. A lot of people. That the stars are still there even if you can’t see them from the surface. That there are a lot more stars then you can see. (See deep field satellite photos).
