Many would think that people who commit vile acts, like mobsters, for example, should be incapable of actual love, or other positive connections. It’s not that simple, of course.
The root of all evil is lack of empathy: thanks to that, the consequence of selfish actions on other people, the victims, is less important than the benefits earned by the acting person. Selective empathy allows criminals to deeply love their close people while looking at their victims like meat, tools or other forms of non-people.
It’s a twisted, cold form of love, the one Kyora has for his sons.
