Duke Jamil and everyone have to know that Ryoma is not a sutible choice for her to marry. Are they using Ryoma to teach her how to love, like the old aunt did in Great Expectations, knowing that if they were to go to Ryoma secretly and say “you can’t have an actual relationship with her” he’d totally back off leaving her to marry someone appropriate?
