The Japanese have a really strange attitude toward responsibility. Normally, students are under the school’s care during class. As soon as they leave the school grounds, it is the parents’ responsibility to look after them. Why should a teacher take responsibility for an incident that occurs at a festival that has nothing to do with the school?
