The name “Shin” feels out of place amongst all these European names. Did Merlin name his grandson after his leg?

The anime made it way lot better than this. He got a blue flame and condensed it. Then, mc released it towards an open area in the distance. The area was gone soon after. The explosion is similar to volcanic eruption.
