The Empire made them demons long before Strom did through it’s messed up rule and if they showed any remorse to the genocide I might be able to not say just kill em beat em to submission but don’t kill but my dear lady to call a child a simpleton because it couldn’t resist overwhelming power I mean there’s a point when all creatures fight or flight response simply gives up it’s not being simple it’s simply that feeling of “well shit guess this is it”

The empire instituted a version of the catholic church’s indulgences, where you could pay money to the church to be forgiven of your crimes. But took it farther than the church managed to IRL. They never had their equivalent of a Martin Luther publish his objections – or if they did, they managed to crush him before he had an impact.
Which led to a society of rulers who believed they were good people who should be admired and obeyed without question despite VAST amounts of evidence to the contrary. And since humans have a natural, inborn basic sense of justice – a revolution was inevitable. Too many people had been hurt to permit the empire to continue, something would have happened eventually.
