he should put that girl to work makingg as much gunpowder as possible and just make bombs and bery them as mines.
oh, and the lich seemed to know necromancy.. so raise as many cross soldiers as possible from the dead then make corpse piles of them to make it look like they are to scare the enemy.. then ambush when the cross army pases them..
