Fyi… mc could have solved EVERYTHING with wells…
Using contract magic. (I sign here that i am loyal to [insert name] and am not a traitor) and if i have any harmful or malicious thoughts about my companions i will glow red hot… etc etc
Or something along those lines… and they could have stopped wells.

For small.. invisible… flying creatures…
To be useful in combat, strength is not needed… speed = momentum = power.
Fast flyby attacks with a jousting javelin… a long thin needle/spear for hitting weak points of enemies like eyes…
Or flying fast around enemies like a snow speeder vs an AT-AT Star wars walker… dragging a sturdy string to tangle/wrap up enemies…
Tying it to a tree fast by flying around it then creating a tripwire or clothesline to trip/behead/block enemies….
