For some reason I’m finding Karen more than a little annoying. I can see where he’s working his nuts off, but she seems to keeps getting major magic boosts handed to her on a plate.

Both her and her family were wack.
Firstly, did she really think her teacher died protecting her? It seemed more like he was killed before he even had a chance to abandon her.
Second, she sees wolf-monsters eating a stranger right in front of her, distracted, but decided that sitting down and crying, close-by, were the best solutions.
Third, her mom sees all the blood but, instead of picking her daughter up and fleeing, she joins her in sitting on the ground and basically yelled to attract the wolves next to them.
At least her father had some situational awareness, but he still didn’t pick his family of the ground before telling them to run. And then her mom pushes her daughter away to sacrifice herself too, but what made her think her daughter would actually run away when she didn’t do so in the situations beforehand?
The girl definitely only survived because those wolves were full from eating 3 people.

Proceeds do give her enough power to NOT risk anything at ALL????
