that old man doesn’t really know how to teach somebody i guess it is his worst weakness. to teach something and that reason is why he live in a secluded area.
Why is it that most of the chinese manhuas have a arrogant protagonist. It’s not only in fantasy but always in several slice and life genre stories I’ve read. It’s always them being arrogant and are caught off guard. Same for the side characters that the protagonist is up against. I do get that the country itself has large sum of people who have alot of pride and self confidence but it ruins most of the stories 
I like it and dislike it. I don’t like the kid’s arrogance. I have entirely too hard a time believing he would be so disrespectful of an elder, let alone a martial arts master he saw cut down like fify trees with a flip of his hand at 40 paces.
I think the author is going for comedy, but comedy rooted in disrespect isn’t really funny. Which is why 95% of sarcasm is nothing but insult, but not the funny kind. Don Rickles was a master at it, but I’ve not seen anyone do it really well since.
Before teaching a single drop of martial arts, one must train the character first. After all, old dude isn’t some random desperate 3rd rate conman martial artist. Old dude is one of the most dangerous martial masters in Murim. If he just teaches out of the door, maybe he really isn’t a real master .
