Chivalry only came about because of the Crusades. It was only after several bloody holy wars that the Saracens and the Crusader knights decided on a code of conduct. This was history’s first incident of non-combatants being recognized. Without the crusades, the concept of civilian casualties would not exist.
It is true that we are here because we are sitting on the shoulders of giants, but those giants are standing on a pile of corpses, many of which ended up as genetic dead ends.

AIight. When it reaches the point where they are encouraged to murder innocent people, all in the name of “training” — the whole premise of: “I’m an adult from a peaceful world, I speak up for the slaves because I know better!” just gets blown out of the water.
I don’t care how good this story may get in the future, if I wanted to read a story about kids murdering people for the fun and giggles of a maniac adult, I’d read snuff. I expected the MC to actually retort and prevent that outcome, doing something smart to prevent needless killing, and especially: subverting the teachings of his psychotic “butler”.
