I don’t see why his short time in the military matters. Anyone above a certain rank can join the war effort at any time, you could literally have one of the martial saints join and they’d be in the same boat as the MC, since if your martial power actually affected your rank, MC wouldn’t have entered as a recruit since he has known to be as strong or stronger than a grandmaster. The author is using this whole “He’s just a rookie???” reaction a lot for no reason, considering they have established that that is in no way an indicator of the person’s strength
