Passive skills VS Active skills comparison
Passive skills:
- Are always on. They(usually) never spend the user’s power/mana/magic.
- Multiple passives can be active at once, unlike active skills, which usually can only be activated one at a time. This means that the late game meta is passive skills, because one will accumulate enough passive skills to be able to have the power rivaling or surpassing that of any active skill at all times.
- Usually weak on their own, but becomes stronger when combo’d with other skills, passive or active. They play a supporting role, but many small powers can work together to become a large power.
- They run in the background, allowing the user to put their attention on fighting instead of activating their skills.
Active skills:
- They’re great short-term, as they usually provide unparalleled spur-of-the-moment strength, but usually require some sort of energy consumption and user attention as to which they would want to use. They also usually can only be one active at a time(not counting skills that buff damage temporarily or skills that relate to a certain item, like a speed buff skill when wearing a pair of speed boots or something), and thus provide limited strength in the long run.
TL;DR
Short run, go for active skills. Long run, passive skills or death.
