Just because you don’t have a ‘natural’ talent for something doesn’t mean that you can’t get good at it with effort. Putting all your faith into developing a ‘magic’ that may never amount to anything at the expense of doing something that might save yor life, in this case learning to defend yourself with a sword, seems a bit shortsighted. And just putting a sword in the hand of a child and expecting him to be able to fight with it, with zero training beforehand, seems an odd way to go about things.
