Maybe make a sword made out of thunder ore in which he uses magic on it and cuts it off at the handle so that he doesn’t feel the electricity, but the thing that touches the blade does and gets shocked.

I’m not sure if the author know but, electricity follows the path of least resistance, or the most ionized path, so when the mc shot the rock with highly conductive magic, it shot out randomly in all directions In massive arcs that don’t even go towards the ground, also it seems that there is force aswell as heat behind his magic because when he shot that ball of compressed magic at the target, not only was it thousands of degrees, but it also continued after hitting the first one and burning a hole through it instantly, if he just refines and makes it smaller than he can potentially make a laser beam that can melt through boulders and cut down forests, because that’s how hot the magic appeared to be in a condensed state, and if he can reverse this and stop atoms from moving instead of making them move by compressing them or even if he can take the movement from other atoms and apply it elsewhere then he can potentially make fireballs by gathering ambient heat just like how a magnifying glass gathers light to a point to make heat, but he can also then take heat away from a spot and make ice.
