Always Expect the Worst

I truly don’t understand why she isn’t saying, “give me back my bookmark”??
If someone is unscrupulous enough to use those kinds of methods in the first place, you definitely should not be trusting them.
So why is she just letting him set the pace, falling into his plans, and giving him so much power over her?
Look at what he did when she WASN’T giving him that kind of power.
Does she think he’s going to suddenly change?
Obviously it will only get worse.
So why…?
It’s like letting a kidnapper take you to a secondary location.
At that point, you’re definitely dead, AND they’re more likely to get away with it.
Better to resist so fiercely you make them kill you at the first location, so you at least drag them down with you.
You should be telling that guard at the castle, “Actually, he is a thief who stole my precious memento, and a blackmailing who is trying to hold it hostage.”
You should be telling your friend, “Your uncle has my bookmark, help me get it back from him.”
You should be telling your husband, “The gift you gave me is so precious to me that it has been identified as a weak point and this man is using it as leverage to get his way.”
Furthermore, what is up with your weird sense of perspective?
The bookmark has value because your precious Eddy gave it to you.
Okay.
I can understand that.
But you seem to be valuing it more than actual time with your husband, in person?
The bookmark is a way for you to feel close to Eddy when you can’t be with him.
But that makes it a poor second choice at best.
So why are you giving away the time you could be spending WITH him, which ought to be your first choice, to retrieve the second-place token?
Further, do you really think the bookmark is the last gift you will receive from him?
So long as you are not killed hanging around someone who is a target, you have more chances in the future.
But you are risking your life right now for someone who has ALREADY SHOWN that they cannot be trusted and will do you harm for their own convenience.
I don’t understand you at all.
I truly don’t.
What are you thinking?
Do you have some plan in mind?
What plan?
What can you gain by doing this, that would be worth the risks?
How are you going to get the bookmark back?
Do you know something about this man?
Do you have a plot to manipulate him in turn?
