So, only after the mc’s death that they finally understood they had a good thing. Was it about the mc being a good ruler or they didn’t want to go down in history for being the people that resulted in monster attacks that appeared after his death. It’s clear that the rebellion discovered only after the mc’s death, that the monster races they didn’t have to face over the years was under the mc’s control, now they had to live with new threats the emerged in the aftermath thanks to their actions.
As stated, history is written by the winners, or this case the survivors covering up their own mistake to ensure they didn’t face their own deaths if the truth had reached the general public who were likely losing family and friends from the sudden surge of monster attacks.
