Ah of course, the evil pope trope
You know I can’t help but feel Manga has more truth than Western Fantasy. If there was a D&D book on Manga, the Paladin would be Lawful Evil (seems like the law of the land is always working on the side of evil. Than the Demon Lords turn out to be the biggest followers of freedom, giving value to the downtrodden, and promoting Demonkind learn to work together with humans, elves and dwarves. I really enjoy this setup. I also have a massive “Human who is an elf savior” complex. In Dragon Age all I wanted to do was kill humans and help the elves. In Witcher I did everything I could that would support the elves. My greatest wish was to do good deeds, in view of my Elf harem! Not to much to ask….

Like in this world there are good priests and bad priests, good mages and evil mages. Is this priest saying just because someone wants to learn magic they are evil?
You know it’s pretty pointless to try and make the Priest look evil, after the author already established in chapter 1 that mages indeed are evil as hell and just go around terrorizing anyone who opposes them.
