If she’s controlling him with obsession he should go berserk every time another man even looks at her, he might even become so obsessed that he would even try to kill her to insure that she can never leave him. They are treating obsession like he just adores her which is wrong. I forgot the other emotion she’s using to control him so it might balance obsession to make it less potent though.
