So, what is happening to them is that their Saint Qi is being transformed. Cultivators coming from star field has the opportunity to transform and improve their Saint Qi here, however, they cannot stay here any longer or they will be ejected after some time to Star Boundary. And after arriving on Star Boundary, they cannot go back to Starlight Corridor.
This is similar to how Transcendent realm cultivators breaking through to Saint realm and having to transform their Yuan Qi into the more powerful Saint Qi. Here, cultivators of Origin King realm have to transform their Saint Qi into a more significantly powerful Source Qi. And only after they transform all their Qi, can they break through to the next realm, Dao Source realm (if the several friends have read my spoilers, you will know that after Origin King realm is Dao Source realm, and this is the process). This is why Dao Source realm cultivators are far more powerful than Origin King realm cultivators cuz the more Source Qi has been transformed, the stronger they become.
In Star Boundary, a 3rd order Origin King realm cultivator can overpower another 3rd order Origin King realm just cuz he has more of his Saint Qi being transformed into Source Qi.
