Only Martial peak would disguise a zombie apocalypse as Demon Transformation from ancient Demon’s Qi.. LOL

It’s closer to a rabies outbreak or the black plague…
But i guess you could call it a zombie apocalypse, since they are “living” dead.
When some normal people were infected by it,
(knowing they were going to die anyways)
they lost all inhibitions and many decided to take their frustrations out on the people they felt were responsible…
trying to spread it as much as possible to “share the love” they recieved, with those who were supposed to protect them, or on anyone they had grievances with.
There are/were also literal “demon trees” 1 touch = driven to insanity, ( it’s slow acting and feels good at first… and doesn’t switch until a while later)
So someone ignorant would take some and go around showing people getting them all to touch and feel how good it is… then later… 
There are other things that could act like this, but thankfully MOST of it has been hunted down and exterminated.
Though some “organizations” still keep some “samples” for “insurance” purposes…
Like CDC.
And there are probably still some in no go areas of the world.
Like deep jungle/rainforest, or underground caves which haven’t been found because nobody gets out alive.
