in earlier arcs, the succubi demons AND the fire bird spirit liu yan, yang met on shadowed star after she evolved into human form (after a sorbing the fire sects protector) on the cultivation star where he reunited with his ice pheonix lover Su Yan.
showed up were wearing that exact outfit of those background female characters (a belly dancer outfit) but liu yan was too much of a main chatacter so they gave her a frumpy outfit instead. why change it? 
fyi this following fighting event in the novel is one of my favorite parts in Martial Peak novels. i listened to fairy tail battle music on youtube for ambiance while reading during fight…another choice might be the music ‘duel of the fates’ from star wars movies episode 3.
