It’s been days since I caught up, but re-reading this chapter made me realize something about the author’s backstory for Ink: It went from Ink being innocent and unintentionally hurting others to devouring all evil to strengthen itself. 
Then again the author has been consistently inconsistent, so this is in line with his track record.
