MC becomes soft. Why would you ask so many question during a “spar” when your opponent is trying to use deadly technique and then surprised when you got hit by a poison by know clearly that she is a poison user.
Prolly cause the teacher said to the young lady “you can’t handle it” or “you’re not talented enough” or something along the line. That’s also prolly why she used a poison cultivation technique that makes her not able to conceive a child. He saved and doomed her bruh. But she could have a child if she reached a stage high enough that it would heal the body and transcends.
Everything is not so simple, in last chapters was said, that she can’t bear a child, and MC’s teacher must have something to do with it. 
So she tried to kill him to become his disciple as well or something like that?
