Haven’t caught up to the latest chapters yet, but… I’m guessing that Jong Richu might actually be the missing Martial King, and Unnamed may possibly be associated with Dark Heaven somehow.
That said, I’m not so sure the one dying there is Hongdo. Might be old man Song shapeshifted into Hongdo’s appearance after being baited by the assassination attempt message. Destroying both legs was possibly to hide this.
In which case, Hongdo is actually kind of sus here. Bringing Song into it, saying he needed specifically him, directing Fire King’s attention, etc. And there was his particular interest in MC before, not to mention how these developments are kicking up after Fire King let him know that they are aware at Dark Heaven may be returning.
It just lines up a bit too neatly. Add to that how what seems to be other ‘King’ titled experts who are supposedly dead are attacking and the fact that the Jin grand elder’s 30yr plan was actually part of Dark Heaven’s bigger picture.
Jong Richu had also said something about being misunderstood as a demon, so maybe he is linked to or is himself the demon king or whatever in the original great war. Maybe there are hidden truths behind it and all.
Hard to say which way things will go, but some “nothing is as it seems” shenanigans are definitely going on here for sure.
