Rereading the chapter only reaffirmed my sympathy for Medaka. I like that he’s not stupidly dense unlike most romcom male protagonists; instead he’s cautious, restrained and careful about jumping to conclusions. His self esteem is a bit low, but he’s also quite smart. I like how he started asking Mona questions as if he sensed an opportunity to clarify their situation. If not for the teacher, he probably would press Mona to either confess (which could be felt as forced) or deflect/deny (which could complicate things later). So how it happened in the end is the best in my opinion. Kudos to the author for not making things overcomplicated where they don’t have to be.
