Eww. I didn’t really like this series so like whatever, but him rejecting her cuz of his precepts is nuts.
Poor Asahi :/ She went for broke and lost. I admire her for having the guts to do so.
Props to Medaka for not beating around the bush and properly telling Asahi as things are. I find it respectable: he has something important to him and to give up on it something really big has to show up. Asahi simply wasn’t big enough.
I’m beginning to wonder if the MC is just using his religion as and excuse to avoid being rejected, and having his heart broken if he gets into a romantic relationship with a girl.
Maybe in his junior high or middle school years there was a girl he fell in love with, and maybe even dated for a time, thinking the relationship would last forever, but he ended up getting suddenly and brutally rejected, with his heart and emotions being crushed so badly, he developed a deep trauma of getting into another romantic relationship, out of a deep fear of a future romantic relationship ending the same way.
Maybe the girl he fell in love with and dumped him in junior high, started out as a very cute and charming girl like the girls who are in love with him right now, and maybe she confessed to him and he confessed back, only for the relationship to end in a total disaster for him, he’s still trying to recover from. Maybe his religion is what he uses to cope with, and burry the pain he suffered and has been enduring since is ill fated first journey into the world of love and romance.
