I doubt 14 days of exercise would do much.
Soending that time and energy on learning more fighting techniques would probably have been better. And doing Kendo, unarmed martial arts, archery and what not would also have been exercise…
The goblin has articulated hands it could have easily opened the trap or used a tool to open it.
He is so lucky its not like ever quest where your level matters

So it’s like unbeatable Lv. 1 where he has the strength of someone who is lvl200 but it shows that he is lvl 1

So he Levels up gets the points and back to Level one lowering his exp requirements back to that of a Level one while still technically leveling up
I can’t deny it, the fist thought came to my minde, that I actually had a feeling to help it. Is it because of the make up, or maybe eyes? 
P.S. If this would really happen to me, I would probably just run away though
