Yes, I told the world that even humans are not immune to evil and this bald head priest, namely Aldo (and given name, not real one), heavily implied how corrupt the church truly is. Allow me to remind people too about the hero syndrome in these guys’ part for their ter00rism attempt during the Summit, pin the blame onto the Tower Witch and using their own self-made miracle to “save” the people who were infected by their own mess. Not the type of “equality”
The whole chapter shows Aldo’s POV and his plan to sabotage the summit. See, he was a former adventurer who pledged his faith to the Goddess after an adventure gone wrong and he was the only survivor of his group. Then, he was recruited into a shady organization and passed with flying colors and even doing their dirty work since. This time, he was briefing with the two of his fellow zealots to commit t*rr*rsim onto the Summit with Poor-Man Plague
The Black Clown Mask/Motley eventually thwarts that evil plan and the Poor Men’s Plague cannot infect the trio for obvious reason, and Aldo had to transform into a monster via his artifact he proclaimed as the “ Fragment of Goddess”. The same thing that mutating the one oni into the Oni God one arc ago. Then again, Light still able to defeat that f**l by removing the very artifact that attached Aldo’s chest from the latter’s chest and freeze him. By the time Aldo was sent to the Abyss for mind probing, he mind was turned mush because of the artifact.
While removing that delusional nuisance from messing up the Summit, Light unfortunately learn too late Diablo has already left Nine before the Summit. Not that Light himself worry much because he always has Plan B for Diablo but THIS is the one reason why Demon Kingdom Saga is the longest arc in the series because the Undertaker King himself had to deal with Demon Kingdom’s most nefarious before reaching Diablo.
Serious question though. What did the church even do that earned everybody’s trust for them to begin with? The zealots were too focused on consolidating power within Nine that they neglected other fellow humans outside the duchy and if Aldo’s own convert mission that involved l00ting or redruming other people, then I fail to see anywhere different than the non-human villains.
Also, am I not the only feel that a certain village’s destruction was…too clean? No survivors during the destruction? By Dragonewts? The Forgot (ten) may have bitter feuds with some non-human enemy but something didn’t add up here. And no, that’s not Light’s village. It was just some random, nameless place that is unfortunately just become one of many casualties made by certain somebody
No wonder even Mr. Beagle (Gam) has some strong words about the church. shunned the church and not even Lilith wants anything to do with the church too.
