k guys here is my master theory, humans or different races with unique abilities such as unlimited gacha could become masters. If you inherit a masters blood you could become a sub master. Masters also have no level limit. Masters have the power to destroy the entire world if you anger them enough. One master noticed light and immediately thought he was a master so he assigned that alliance party to deal with him as in grow him up and also put him to work to see if he actually was a “unawakened” master which is why the team treated light with a bunch of love and care but if it came down to it the master prob said something in the lines of “if he is a regular child then kill him” and so they “killed” him and now were here light is actually a master all along but he was underestimated and i guess what you call a late bloomer. The elf lady really gave all of this away in this chapter almost again this is just a theory a BOOK THEORY ANnnnnd cut.

So, my prediction is that someone before got a “Hero” class and started to call himself “Master”. Most likely, an elf. They became very powerful and mighty. Then they somehow received info that “Hero” class will be transferred when someone more worthy appeared. So they started to kill anyone who have the potential to become a “Hero”.
